Gerry is a Drumintee based Landscape artist – working in watercolour and also in pen and ink. He moved from Meigh to London in his twenties having graduated in construction management. He worked in construction for two years. His career took a change into publishing and events management and moved to Eastbourne where he lived for twenty three years.
While living in Eastbourne he renewed his lifelong interest in art – being submerged in the beautiful landscape of the South Downs. He found watercolours ideal for capturing the play of light on both the seascapes and landscapes.
In 2020 he moved to Dundee in Scotland and used his weekends and time off to explore and paint the Highlands. In 2022 he came full circle returning to Drumintee and now lives at the foot of Slieve Gullion mountain surrounded by views of the Cooley and the Mourne mountains. He spends as much time as possible hiking and sketching the local scenery, working on commissions and appreciating what is around him. These moments he capture with what is in my opinion, the most versatile of art mediums – watercolours.
